In 1985, Hines was chosen to rebuild the Norwest Corporation’s banking headquarters after their building was destroyed in one of the worst office fires in US history. Now known as the Wells Fargo Center, the elegant 57-story building contains a full-block indoor pedestrian promenade, which houses a 100-foot-high domed ceiling rotunda on one side and a formal lobby on the other.

Designed by Cesar Pelli and completed in 1988, this landmark property redefined the Minneapolis skyline and has won numerous awards including the Urban Land Institute Award for Excellence for Large-Scale Office Development in 1989, BOMA Local Building of the Year in 1993 and 2022, BOMA Regional Office Building of the Year Award in 1994, Energy Star in 1999 through present, Certified LEED® Gold EB in 2010 and Recertified LEED Gold VC in 2014, 2018 and 2022, BOMA 360 Performance Building in 2021 and WELL Building Standard in 2022.
